Who do we serve?
Our participants are homeless, or near homeless, single mothers and fathers with one or more children.

What services do we provide?
DELTA provides up to 24 months housing support in the form of rent subsidies, and life skills coaching aimed toward teaching better parenting and home management skills, achieving GED or other educational goals, and other employment.

When did we start?
Over 19 years ago in 1989.

What areas do we serve?
The Greater Harrisburg area, including Harrisburg proper and surrounding communities.

Why provide the service we do, don't other agencies do the same?
Not exactly, some other agencies provide short term shelter facilities - dormitory or single room housing for a few nights to a couple of months - and some provide "bridge housing" - subsidized apartments for a few months up to about a year for single mothers. Our program provides a suitable apartment for a two year period to male and female single parents who have shown a genuine desire to move out of homelessness by participating in the rules of our program. Very few programs in this area provide similar services.

How sucessful have we been in the past?
We have helped dozens of families become self sufficient, contributing members of the community. Upon "graduation" from the two year program, our participants have moved into their own apartments, have improved their parenting skills, have bettered their educational backgrounds, have gotten steady employment and have improved their credit reports. In fact, of all our participants having spent six months or more in our program, only three have gone back to homelessness - over a ninety five precent success rate.
